Kuhaylan Krush

Alternative spellings : Kuhaylan Kurush

The Kuhaylan Krush strain in the United States and Canada currently traces back to only two dam lines: *Werdi and El Kahila.

*Werdi was a mare imported to the US by Homer Davenport. Mares of the *Werdi dam line were bred to stallions of many different bloodlines before the concept of 'Blue List' or 'Al Khamsa' existed. Despite these breedings to stallions that were not in later years considered to be Al Khamsa, a few mares were bred to stallions that were in later years recognized by the Al Khamsa organization. Two of *Werdi's granddaughters exist in pedigrees today: Babe Azab and Kapiti. Babe Azab is represented in both straight Davenport and combined source AK horses while the Kapiti dam line is represented in combined source mares.

El Kahila, although never imported to the US herself, is/was considered to be Al Khamsa, Straight Egyptian, and is the only straight egyptian source of the Kuhaylan Krush strain within AK. At this time, the El Kahila dam line within Al Khamsa is represented through three mares which were imported to the US: Bint Shahbaa I, El Shaymaa, and Shams SSB.
