| Table 1: Hind's progeny |
The Hind dam line was, initially, a dam line that was not clearly in the Safe category. Because I did not know that the line was safe, the research had to be done to determine the status of the Hind dam line. After doing the research there were found to be 100+ mares that were 25 years old or younger. As with any of the dam lines, there are probably mares that are out of production in the 'cut off' for safe was chosen with the knowledge that we would not know the status of all of the mares.
Some people forget that 'preservation breeding' isn't just about breeding horses that are 'rare'. The Hind dam line is not rare, but that doesn't mean that there aren't qualities that should be preserved. If one or more of the individuals of this dam line speaks to your heart and you are interested in strain breeding, then this is the dam line that you should be breeding. While doing the research for this line, I found that a young stallion that I purchased (and hadn't done a strain pedigree for) was of this dam line. I don't plan to rush right out and buy a mare of the Hind dam line so that I can immediately do a pure in strain breeding. But there were a number of mares of this dam line that I liked the bloodlines for so a pure in strain breeding could happen some day.
Please feel free to look at the research for yourself and if a horse of this dam line has stolen your heart than I encourage you to breed horses that you love. The research is presented at: Hind's progeny
