Shuwaymah Sabbah/Folla dam line
At this time (12/2009), the Folla dam line is not considered to be Al Khamsa. So why did I bother to do the research for a nonAK 'rare' dam line? There are multiple reasons; the primary being curiousity. I ran across Folla while researching other dam lines and found that she was the horse that caused the line to not be Al Khamsa, yet she is considered to be Asil. I saw an ad with the straight egyptian horses identified as being 'rare'; of course, I had to look at the line and again the name: Folla. And finally, I asked about the AK status of Folla because of the bloodlines that I had earlier researched and found that Folla has been submitted for consideration for addition to the Al Khamsa roster. Combining all of this information, I was even more curious and wanted to know if the Folla dam line IS rare. And so I began the research.
In the case of Folla, I continued the research in other (outside of North America) countries as far as information was available. I eliminated only those horses (their names are in black print) that I was SURE were not considered to be Asil. As I have said before, I haven't really learned any more than anyone else could have discovered by researching the dam line through the Arabian Datasource. Eight mares of the Folla tail dam line have been imported into North America, yet these mares have been bred lightly (for the most part). The dam line IS rare, but there is no reason that it can not remain viable. Clearly there are those that breed and love this line so I wish them the best of luck with breeding and preserving this line.
